President’s Message 11 Dec 17

Last week Pete Henry came along to
present us with a certificate acknowledging
the help of the Rotary Club of Heidelberg
with the number plate program. He was
also apologetic for the fact that certificates
had not been provided for our contributions over the
last few years.
When it transpired that our guest speaker
was unable to attend due to sickness Pete
stepped in at the last moment and spoke
to us about the Neighbourhood Watch
program. His perspective from his
background in the police force certainly
made it an interesting topic, with food for
thought in the declining public interest in
what has been a very worthwhile program.
There will be no meeting next week.
Marcia has very kindly offered to host a
Christmas gathering at her home on
Monday night from 6.30pm.  The cost will
be $20 per head with BYO drinks. This will
be a lot of fun and a great way to finish the
year. Please bring your spouse or partner
and freshen your vocal cords under the
shower in the meantime.
On behalf of Chris and myself, I would like
to take this opportunity to wish a very
Merry Christmas to each of you and to
your families. May you all enjoy a happy
safe holiday period and prosperous New
Year.
President Tony
