President’s Message – 18 September 2017

Last week’s speaker, Judy O’Donohue, spoke inspiringly about jobs and young people. More of that inside. Just the sort of person we would love to have in our Club!
Max Chester has been heavily involved in a project with a group of Turkish Rotarians who are coming to Melbourne for Anzac Day next year. Last week I received an email from our Assistant District Governor, Bruce Anderson, seeking expressions of interest for hosting these Rotarians for a few days. At the Board Meeting on Tuesday, we decided that we would like to be involved, so I have advised him accordingly. Obviously the details are very sketchy, but it could be a wonderful exercise.
Our numbers are still very low, although some of the wandering members are returning. Please make an effort to join us on Monday. Tony Sheilds from the Rotary Club of Greensborough will talk to us about his business which is buying and selling stamps and coins. Who knows, that collection from your childhood might even be worth a ‘few bob”!
Vasko’s are unavailable on 2 October, so we shall take the opportunity to follow up our recent connection with RSL on Bell and meet there instead. Pencil it in – it is only 2 weeks away.
President Tony
